Since I don’t get internet access here in the farm, I update everything once a week when I deliver the eggs to the city. While browsing stuff in the internet, I stumbled on Steve Jobs commencement somewhere. It was one powerful speech. He mentioned about connecting the dots in the past into the present that will lead to the future. I couldn’t agree more of what he was saying. I mean I made a lot of bad decisions back in the day. But when I look back and see all the mess I’ve left behind, I’m saying to myself that they were all meant to happen. I’m not gonna end up here across the continent if I didn’t make this call. Well, of course, it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was still living in Jakarta. But it is now very, very clear looking backwards years before. Again, we can’t connect the dots looking forward. We can only connect them by looking backward, so we have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in our future. We gotta trust in something, either gut, destiny, life, karma, or whatever. Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give us the confidence to follow our heart, even when it leads us off the well-worn path, and that will make all the difference. I clearly hear what my heart is screaming inside. It wants me to keep on writing.
